Post-war streets, newer subdivisions and wooded rear parcels. Whole neighborhoods here were planted at the same time, so tree service in Edison, NJ tends to arrive for the same street in the same season.
Veteran-owned and family-run since 1993, across Middlesex County and three more. NJTC #806860 · LTCO #565 · Fully insured · Free written estimates · 24/7 dispatch at (732) 805-0609.
Since 1993 this has been a family company — Dylan Ahlert owning it, Peter Ahlert holding New Jersey operator license LTCO No. 565. Registered with the Board of Tree Experts as NJTC No. 806860, veteran-owned, and insured for general liability and workers' compensation.
Edison is large and mixed — post-war streets, newer subdivisions, and wooded rear parcels. Whole neighborhoods here were planted at the same time, so the trees are hitting full size together and the same street will often need the same work in the same season. Subdivision soil is compacted, which shapes what we recommend replanting.

Tree Removal
Where the access allows it, the crane does the job in fewer, heavier pieces. Less time with a climber in the tree, less time with weight swinging over the house, and a faster clean-up. It is the safest way we have to take down a big declining tree.
Timing matters more than people expect. Most species take pruning best while dormant, when the wounds close cleanly and you are not inviting pests to a fresh cut in the middle of summer.
How deep we grind depends on what you want the space for. Six to ten inches below grade is enough to lay sod or seed; if you are replanting or pouring a patio, we take more out and clear the root plate as well.
A tree in the right place pays you back — shade on the west side of a house measurably cuts summer cooling, and a screen planting does more for privacy than a fence at half the height.
Fence lines and paddock edges are the jobs that get put off. Once the brush is into the wire it stops being a landscaping task and starts being fence repair.
Response time is the whole service. We answer the phone ourselves at any hour, and being local to these counties is the difference between a crew tonight and a crew on Thursday.
Most Edison Homeowners Do Not Need a Tree Permit — Until They Do
Edison's Chapter 25 opens with a broad rule, then hands single-family lots a wide exemption. If your house is already built and you are not putting up a new home or an addition that increases the size by more than half, trees on your lot are exempt from the permit — with one hard ceiling: you may not remove more than 20% of the existing tree cover without complying with the chapter.
Cross either line and you apply to the Township Engineer. The fee is $25 where no board approval is needed, or $200 where a removal permit and replacement plan go together. Dead, dying and diseased trees are exempt outright, as is any tree whose angle of growth makes it a hazard to a structure or to people. Where replacements cannot go in on site, the contribution is $300 per tree on a single-family lot.
Existing single-family lots are exempt from the permit in most cases
But never more than 20% of the existing tree cover without applying
New construction or an addition over 50% larger removes the exemption
Exempt: dead, dying, diseased, or hazardously leaning trees
Fee: $25, or $200 where a replacement plan needs approval
