Licensed Tree Experts in Franklin, NJ

A township this size will ask for your numbers, so we lead with them: NJTC No. 806860 for the business, LTCO No. 565 for Peter Ahlert as licensed operator. Dylan Ahlert owns Wayne's. General liability and workers' compensation are carried on every job.

Franklin is nearly 47 square miles, and the tree work genuinely changes from one job to the next — a crane fits some properties and cannot get near others. We size the method to the site rather than to the invoice, and we have been doing it across this township since 1993.

02 Our Services

Our Residential and Commercial Tree Services in Franklin, NJ

Franklin’s 46 square miles span suburban developments, preserved farmland, and 3,000+ acres of Six Mile Run State Park forest. Properties near the eastern section of the township and Kingston face local river flooding — Hurricane Ida (2021) devastated these corridors, toppling century-old sycamores along the D&R Canal towpath.

Our crews perform crane-assisted removals in tight-lot developments corridor, preventive pruning on heritage oaks in Middlebush, and dead-ash removal from Griggstown’s rural hedgerows. Storm damage cleanup, stump grinding, and canopy management for Franklin’s HOA communities round out our services.

Tree Removal Service

Tree Removal

Planned removal is always cheaper than emergency removal. In a storm you are paying for night work, traffic control and a crew pulled off another job — and the tree has usually already done the damage you were trying to prevent.

Tree Trimming & Pruning

Branches resting on a roof are a slow leak waiting to happen. They hold moisture against the shingles, drop debris into the gutters, and give squirrels a bridge into your attic. Clearance pruning solves all three at once.

Stump Grinding and Removal

Stump Grinding & Removal

A stump left in a lawn is a mower-wrecker and a trip hazard, and it never really goes away — hardwood stumps can sit there for a decade, settling unevenly as the roots rot underneath.

Tree & Shrub Planting service

Tree & Shrub Planting

A tree in the right place pays you back — shade on the west side of a house measurably cuts summer cooling, and a screen planting does more for privacy than a fence at half the height.

Land Clearing Service

Land Clearing

We grind the stumps as part of the clearing rather than leaving a field of them. Ground you cannot mow, drive on or build over is not really cleared.

Storm Cleanup

24/7 Emergency Tree Service

Storm work needs the equipment ready before the storm. Cranes and bucket trucks that are already ours, already serviced and already crewed are why we can answer on the night rather than take a message.

03 Local Rules

Franklin Has the Strictest Tree Rule in Our Service Area

Franklin is the tightest township we work in. Under Chapter 222 of the Township Code no tree may be removed without a permit — there is no lot-size floor and no tree-count allowance — and a regulated tree starts at just 4 inches across, measured 3 feet up rather than the usual 4.5 feet, so it catches smaller trees than most ordinances do.

The practical relief for homeowners is the clear-cutting exemption: up to 2,500 square feet of clearing on a lot whose main use is an existing one- or two-family home. Dead and diseased trees, and any tree posing a risk to life or property, are exempt outright. The fee is $25 without a building permit, or $500 an acre for land clearing.

  • A permit is required for any regulated tree — no lot-size or count exemption
  • A regulated tree starts at 4 inches across, measured 3 feet up (2 inches for flowering dogwood)
  • Homeowner relief: clearing of 2,500 sq ft or less on a one- or two-family lot
  • Exempt: dead, diseased, or any tree posing a risk to life or property
  • Fee: $25, or $500 per acre for land clearing
  • Administered by Township Engineering, (732) 873-2500
