Tree Removal
Manville sits where two rivers meet, and it floods. Trees that have stood in water repeatedly go soft at the base. If yours has been through a flood, we can tell you honestly whether it is still safe.
Tree removal, explained
A tree that has stood in Manville floodwater goes soft at the base long before the crown shows it. Tree service in Manville, NJ starts at the root collar, then removals, pruning, stump grinding or storm cleanup as the tree needs.
After the water goes down, most Manville homeowners want to know whether a tree is still safe, not just a price to take it out. Wayne’s has been in business since 1993, it is registered with the New Jersey Board of Tree Experts, and Peter Ahlert holds the operator license.
Tree removal in Manville often starts as a pruning call that turns into something else once we look at the base. Where a tree can be saved we trim it and move on. Where it cannot, it comes down in pieces clear of the house, the stump is ground out below grade, and the brush is chipped and carted off the same day.
We cover every ZIP code in Manville: 08835

Manville sits where two rivers meet, and it floods. Trees that have stood in water repeatedly go soft at the base. If yours has been through a flood, we can tell you honestly whether it is still safe.
Tree removal, explained
Flood water rots roots quietly while the top still looks fine. We prune out the dead wood and check the trunk and root collar while we are up there, so you know what you are dealing with.
Tree pruning, explained
Ground here is soft and often still wet. We grind the stump right down so it does not sit there rotting and drawing insects into a yard that already has damp problems.
What stump grinding costs
Wet ground kills the wrong tree fast. We pick species that can handle a soaked root zone and plant them high enough that they are not sitting in water every spring.
How we plant
River lots grow thick brush and volunteer trees between floods. We clear it back, take out the dead standing timber, and open the yard up again.
More on land clearing
Manville has been through this before. When the water comes up and the trees come down, we pick up at any hour and get there with the equipment to lift weight off a house.
Our Emergency Response TeamWe checked this one carefully, because plenty of websites claim otherwise. Manville has no tree removal permit for private property. Its 2012 Shade Tree Commission ordinance gives the Commission control over trees in streets, parks and public places, not over the tree in your yard. There is no diameter threshold, no application, and no fee anywhere in the Borough’s ordinances.
Two location-specific limits do still apply. Inside a recorded conservation or flood plain easement, the Land Development Ordinance prohibits removing trees and ground cover except for dead or diseased trees and limited thinning. And Manville adopted a stream corridor ordinance in May 2024: inside a designated riparian zone (which takes in the 100-year floodplain wherever that has been mapped), the ground must stay in its natural state, with no clearing or cutting of trees and brush. Removing dead vegetation and fallen trees, pruning for imminent public safety, and taking out invasive species are allowed; felling a standing live tree is not, without going through NJDEP. Given how much of Manville sits on flood ground, both are worth checking before work starts, which we do as part of the quote.

Wayne’s did a great job removing a huge maple tree from our yard. They were very easy to work with, communicated effectively, worked around our schedule, and gave a fair price. Highly recommend!
Every time I’ve had tree issues, Wayne’s Tree Service responded in a very professional, timely manner. They removed branches from a neighbor’s large tree in my front yard that were hanging over my power lines.
I would highly recommend Wayne’s Tree Service. They are very responsive and dependable. They also do great work at a great price. If you need any tree service, I can’t recommend Wayne’s enough.
Dylan and his entire crew are outstanding. I needed a large dead pine tree taken down ASAP because it was next to my house and overhead wires. Dylan responded immediately and quoted me a very reasonable price.
