Narrow yards, houses close together, and old pin oaks and maples planted long before the wires went up. Tree service in Bound Brook, NJ is rope-and-rigging work, lowered piece by piece.
Thirty years of Somerset County work, one licensed crew, our own cranes and bucket trucks. NJTC #806860 · LTCO #565 · Fully insured · Free estimates · (732) 805-0609.
The license that actually matters in New Jersey is the LTCO, and ours is No. 565, held by Peter Ahlert. Alongside it the business is registered as NJTC No. 806860. Dylan Ahlert owns the company, and we carry general liability and workers' compensation on every job.
This is a tight, older borough on the river floodplain — narrow yards, houses close together, and mature pin oaks and maples planted long before the wires went up. There is rarely a clear drop zone, so we lower everything in pieces. We also know which streets flood, and what that does to a root plate over twenty years.

Our Residential and Commercial Tree Services in Bound Brook, NJ
Bound Brook’s location in the river floodplain creates distinct tree care challenges.
Repeated flooding events have weakened root systems on Norway maples and pin oaks throughout the low-lying parts of the borough. Our crews remove flood-damaged hazard trees, grind stumps below grade to prevent regrowth, and handle emergency storm response within hours.
Residential trimming, canopy thinning, and Emerald Ash Borer dead-ash removal round out our services for Bound Brook homeowners.
Tree Removal
We take trees down in sections rather than felling them whole. It is slower and it costs more in labor, and it is the only way to remove a tree standing over a roof, a fence or a driveway without something getting broken.
Timing matters more than people expect. Most species take pruning best while dormant, when the wounds close cleanly and you are not inviting pests to a fresh cut in the middle of summer.
A decaying stump is a reservoir for root-rot fungi, and those do not stay put. If the tree came out because of disease, leaving the stump next to healthy trees of the same species is a bad trade.
Where you plant matters as much as what. Too close to a foundation, a walk or a septic field and you are choosing between the tree and the structure later on. We site it so that choice never comes up.
Photograph everything before it moves, if you safely can. Insurers ask, and the difference between a paid claim and a disputed one is often the pictures nobody took.
Bound Brook Wants the Application Before the Tree Comes Down
Under Section 27-1.2 of the Borough Code a tree removal application goes to the Shade Tree Commission and the Department of Public Works, and no tree is to be removed until the Borough has reviewed and approved it. The fee for a non-shade tree is $10. Street trees are regulated from 2.5 inches DBH.
One honest caveat, and it is the reason we call the Borough before quoting rather than guessing: the sentence that sets the size threshold for trees on private property is missing its number in the adopted text, and the section is headed “optional” while its body says a permit shall be obtained. We confirm your specific tree with Code Enforcement instead of assuming. Hazard trees — dead, dying, diseased or infested — are exempt with written justification.
Apply first: Shade Tree Commission and DPW review before any removal
Fee: $10 for a non-shade tree
Street trees regulated from 2.5 inches DBH
Replacement: 1 to 4 trees by size, or $500 per tree into the Borough planting fund
