Springfield runs from wooded high ground down to river flats, and the river is the story here — flooding leaves trees standing on saturated, failing ground. The township also requires a permit for nearly every removal, so the paperwork comes before the chainsaw. We handle both.

Trees planted too close to a house cost you twice — roots into the footings, limbs on the roof, gutters full every autumn. Taking one out before it does structural damage is cheaper than the repair, and far cheaper than an emergency call after it lands.
A limb hanging over the sidewalk or the neighbor's drive is a liability question as much as a tree question. If it is dead and you knew, the answer after it falls is not a comfortable one.
Cut a live tree flush and it often fights back. Species like maple and locust throw suckers from the stump and roots for years, and each one has to be cut again. Grinding ends it.
We check the stock before it goes in. Nursery trees that have sat too long in the pot come with circling roots that will strangle the trunk years later, and that is not something you can fix after planting.
Clearing for a build is about what stays as much as what goes. Mature trees you keep have to be protected from the machinery, or you will lose them two years later to root compaction and not know why.
Response time is the whole service. We answer the phone ourselves at any hour, and being local to these counties is the difference between a crew tonight and a crew on Thursday.
Springfield is one of the stricter towns around when it comes to taking down a tree. Under the township ordinance, you can’t remove a tree on any property without a permit — and your contractor has to be a registered New Jersey Licensed Tree Expert (per N.J.A.C. 7:3A).
$75 per application covers review plus removal of up to two trees; beyond two it’s $100 per tree (refundable if denied or withdrawn).
Houses of worship and nonprofits are exempt from the fees but still have to file.
Street trees in the right-of-way are protected starting at just 2.5 inches in diameter; violations run $250 to $1,000 per tree.
We’re a registered NJ Licensed Tree Expert — so we already meet the township’s contractor requirement.
Most companies won’t walk you through any of that. We will. We’ll tell you exactly what your removal will need, how many trees trigger the extra fees, and which trees are township-owned street trees you can’t touch — before any work starts. Filing the application is on you; we don’t file permits. But you’ll go in knowing the rules and the cost. For storm-damaged or hazardous trees, we document the condition for the township and your insurer.
