Our Emergency Response TeamBernards rewrote this in June 2024. Under Section 16-3 of the Township Code you now need a permit to remove any non-street tree 6 inches DBH or larger anywhere in the township. The old exemption for lots of three acres or less is gone, so the rule reaches properties it did not touch before.
The permit itself is free. What it carries is a replacement obligation — one tree back for a 6 to 13 inch removal, rising to four for anything 33 inches or over, or $300 per tree into the Township Tree Fund where planting on site is not practical. Hazard trees are the exception: dead, dying, diseased, or confirmed a threat by a licensed tree expert, they come out with no fee and nothing owed back.
