Tree Removal
Montgomery has a real permit process: Chapter 14-3, with a six inch trunk measurement as the trigger. We check whether your tree needs a permit before we quote it, so you are not caught out.

Forest-grown trees carry their weight high, and that changes how they have to come down. Tree service in Montgomery, NJ is crane removals and rigging in the right order, with pruning, stump grinding and storm response.
Most Montgomery calls start with a tree that has changed: thinner at the top, or leaning further than last year. Two generations, thirty-three years, our own equipment, and a registration with the New Jersey Board of Tree Experts, with Peter Ahlert as Licensed Tree Care Operator.
Tree removal in Montgomery usually involves a tree that grew up in woods and now stands alone in a yard, carrying its weight high. Those come down in sections. Tree trimming rebalances the ones staying, stumps are ground out below grade, and everything is chipped and carted off before we go.
From a single backyard removal to full-property clearing, one licensed local crew handles every tree job in Montgomery, with the cranes, bucket trucks, and chippers to do it safely.

More on tree removal
Forest-grown trees here are tall and heavy at the top, which is where the risk sits. We prune for clearance from the house and the wires and take the deadwood out before it drops on its own.
Our Tree Trimming Services
The ordinance is the reason a lot of people want the stump gone and something replanted. We grind well below grade so a new tree can go in the same area.
Our stump grinding service
Montgomery often expects a replacement tree after a removal. We help you choose one that satisfies the rules and actually suits the spot, then plant it properly.
Choosing the right species
Wooded lots on one side of the township and open ground on the other. We clear standing timber and brush and grind the stumps out.
Our Land Clearing Team
The wooded side of the township loses big trees in every serious storm. We are on the phone at any hour with the crane and bucket trucks to lift weight off a roof.
Our Emergency Response TeamOften, yes, and almost no other tree company in town will tell you before they start.
Montgomery’s Tree Removal ordinance, administered by the Engineering Department, governs most removals on private property.
Montgomery sets no minimum diameter. Section 14-3 requires a tree removal authorization from the Enforcement Officer (the Township Engineer) before any tree comes down, whatever its size, and only one permit issues per property per year. Replacement plantings are then scaled to trunk diameter: two trees from 6 inches DBH, and as low as 1.5 inches for street trees or Board-approved work.
Dead, diseased, and genuinely hazardous trees can be waived out of the replacement requirement, but only by filing a waiver application and having the township verify the condition before the tree comes down.
Here’s where people get burned: they hire the cheapest quote, the tree comes down, and then the township asks for replacement trees, or worse, the removal wasn’t permitted at all. We walk your property first and tell you plainly which trees need a permit and which qualify for the dead/diseased/hazardous exemption.
Filing the application is on you or your engineer (we don’t file permits), but you’ll know exactly what the township requires before a saw touches anything. For storm damage, we document the tree’s condition for your insurer at the same time, and flag the township’s 48-hour window to file the application after an emergency removal.

Dylan, the owner of Wayne’s Tree Service returned my call the next day, came out on my schedule, gave me an estimate, then had the trees down and cleaned up before lunch the next day.
Wayne’s recently removed a rather large tree from our property. After a problematic experience with a different tree service, they were absolutely a breath of fresh air.
Had someone come out for an estimate for two tree removals along fence lines and dead branches removed from a large tree near the house. Was quoted a very fair price.
Removed a large tree leaning towards the house and electrical wires. Overall great service, communication and skill.
A tree fell onto our house in yesterday’s storm. They responded immediately. The work to remove the tree was done very quickly. There was not a twig left on the ground when they were done. Price was reasonable.
They have done two jobs for me. Great work. Efficient and neat. Good price too.
We cover all of Montgomery, including Skillman, Blawenburg, Harlingen, and Dutchtown.
