Under Chapter 181 you submit a tree removal application to the Zoning Officer for any non-street tree 6 inches DBH or more, or any street tree from 2.5 inches, and no tree comes down until the Borough has approved it.
Unlike some neighboring boroughs, Rocky Hill did not adopt a small-homeowner carve-out — there is no allowance for taking a few trees without applying. The cost is mostly nothing: the two smallest categories carry no fee, then $25 and $50 for the largest. Replacement runs from one to four trees at a minimum 1.5 inch caliper, planted within twelve months and watched for two years. Hazard trees are exempt from both fee and replacement.
