Tree Removal
Flemington is a small borough with a historic district and Victorian houses set close together. Nothing gets dropped here: we rope every piece down clear of the porches and the neighbors.

Book a free walk-through of your Flemington trees. We measure each one against the borough’s 10-inch “large tree” rule, put the price in writing, and rope every piece down clear of slate roofs and porches.
Free and in writing. Dylan Ahlert, the owner, walks the job himself.

Flemington’s downtown leaves no margin for error, with slate roofs and landmark homes close enough to touch. We own our cranes and bucket trucks rather than hiring them in, and the company is registered with the New Jersey Board of Tree Experts with Peter Ahlert as Licensed Tree Care Operator.
Tree removal in Flemington is done a piece at a time, roped clear of porches, slate roofs and the property next door. Nothing is dropped downtown. Tree trimming keeps the canopy off the landmark rooflines between times. Stumps are ground below grade and the brush chipped and carted off the same day.
At Wayne’s Tree Service, we proudly serve the Flemington community with safe, affordable, and expert-level tree care.

The borough’s older trees have real character and real dead wood. We take the dead and weak limbs out and clear the canopy off the rooflines and the wires.
How we prune
Yards here are small and a stump takes up space you need. We grind it low so you can plant over it or put the ground back to use.
Grinding vs. full removal
A historic street deserves a tree that suits it. We help you choose something in keeping with the neighborhood and plant it so it establishes properly.
Tree & shrub planting, explained
Narrow rear lots and overgrown boundaries. We clear the brush and scrub trees and grind whatever is left.
How we clear a lot
Old trees over close-set historic houses make storm damage expensive. Call any hour and we will come out to Flemington.
Our emergency serviceFlemington’s rule is narrower than most and cheap to comply with. Section 2-10.13 protects any tree with a caliper of at least 10 inches measured 4.5 feet up, which the code calls a large tree. Below that, no permit. Above it, a written application goes to the Borough zoning official, who answers within seven days, and the $10 permit must be displayed at the address while the work is done.
Approval turns on whether removal is needed for reasonable use of the property, or whether you will replace the tree with one of at least 2.5 inches, of the same species or one that provides similar community benefits, planted on the property or, if that is not possible, on Borough public land. Diseased, dead and storm-fallen trees are exempt, as is anything endangering public safety. Note that large tree status runs with the land, so it transfers when a property is sold.

New Jersey requires tree care businesses to register with the Board of Tree Experts and keep a licensed operator on staff. Wayne’s holds NJTC Registration #806860, with Licensed Tree Care Operator LTCO #565 on the crew, so you know who is responsible for the work on your property.

Before we quote, we measure the trunk 4.5 feet up. If it is 10 inches or more, we tell you it needs the borough’s $10 permit and what replacement the zoning official may ask for. You file the permit with the Borough; we plan the work around it.

We own our equipment rather than hiring it in, so a tight Flemington lot is not waiting on a rental. Stumps are ground below grade and the brush is chipped and carted off the same day.

Sent in a request for an estimate to remove a large maple in my front yard and Dylan was quick to respond. He came out same day, explained what needed to be done, and gave a very fair price.
We hired Wayne’s Tree Service to remove over a dozen large pine trees, and their work was outstanding.
I would hire Dylan and his crew anytime we needed a tree taken down or pruned. They were so helpful, worked efficiently and quickly! We couldn’t say enough nice things about Wayne’s tree service.
Came quick and finished the job early. Cleaned up our overgrowth in the front and back yard. We can see our house now! Good communication and nice guys! Appreciate their work!
Only for a “large tree”: one with a caliper of 10 inches or more, measured 4.5 feet up, or any Adopt-A-Tree planting. Smaller trees need no permit under Section 2-10.13 of the Borough Code.
The fee is $10. The zoning official answers within seven days, the permit runs for three months, and it must be displayed at the property while the work is done.
Yes. Diseased, dead and storm-fallen trees are exempt, as is any tree endangering public safety.
No. Filing is the property owner’s job, and we don’t file permits. We measure the tree, tell you whether it needs one, and plan the work around the approval.
The Borough’s Shade Tree Commission oversees the large-tree rule. For each application, the zoning official visits and inspects the site, then decides on the permit.
No. Large-tree status runs with the land, so it transfers to the next owner.
Yes. Trees there grow close to slate roofs and landmark homes, so we rope every piece down rather than dropping anything.
